Aurel Vane was the last Zenith. Forty years after his death, he opens his eyes as the newborn fifth prince of House Vaelorn—in a kingdom ruled by the woman who killed him. He kept every memory and every spell. His new body may not survive using them.

Aurel's second life continues at court, where power shows in the eyes and the wrong glow can mean the pyre. Under the city, something old has started counting with him.
